Do you ever feel overwhelmed, alone, or fearful? It is our human nature to let our circumstances in our lives take control and feel as if we are abandoned and no one cares. It is easy to think God does not care, has forgotten about us and the life issues we may be facing. We often forget that our Heavenly Father has a plan, a perfect plan, for each and every one of us.
Romans 8:28 New International Version (NIV) “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
The word “cares” is found 37 times in Scripture. God has given us multiple reminders in His word showing His care for us and asking us to share our cares with Him.
I Peter 5:7 NIV “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
What a great reminder to share ALL our fears, anxiety, and worries with God. He does not tell us how big or small our problems need to be, He wants to know ALL of them. How amazing to know our God wants to know ALL of our worries, to know we are always cared about.
Psalm 27:10 NIV “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”
When we face unwelcome issues with our family or friends, we can feel abandoned or alone, but knowing the Lord loves and cares for us can give us our comfort and guidance.
Nahum 1:7 “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” The Lord is a stronghold in a day of distress. He cares for those who take refuge in Him. Just look around the world today and we will see all kinds of distress and no hope. We as Christians, can take refuge in the Lord and trust Him as He is in control of ALL things. God does not only care for His children but He also cares for His creation as well.
Deuteronomy 11:12 “It is a land the LORD your God cares for: the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.”
Remember the main purpose of Deuteronomy is to remind God’s people of His faithfulness and kindness. God cares for His people and all living things He created; including the sparrow. The Lord talks about how much He cares for the small bird in Scripture a few times.
Matthew 10:29-31 “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your heard are all numbered. So, don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows”
If we consider the amount of people and animals living on our planet, what an amazing thought that our God knows the amount of hair on our heads and that He cares for a small bird like the sparrow. A classic gospel hymn written by Civilla D. Martian, “His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me” is another beautiful reminder of God’s unfailing love and care for His creation.
Even though we do not understand how, God cares for and knows each and everyone of us. How comforting to know we have the love and care from God who created all things. A God who knows the number of hairs on our heads and put a vast number of thoughts into creating each of us.
Psalm 139:17-18 “How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand-when I awake, I am still with you.”
God ALWAYS cares for us, ALWAYS loves us, and will NEVER forsake us. Start each day asking God for the strength to rely on Him and His love. When we feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or fearful let us ask our God who created and knows all living things for faith to believe in His grace and love.
